AYOP Week 2(Birthday Week)

This week, I made progress on only one project. The pattern is Gourdness Gracious by With Thy Needle & Thread. The linen is 40 count in the Colourway Decrepit by Number12StitchCo. I am using all of the called-for threads, except one. I switched out Weeks Charcoal for Weeks Onyx.

As this week is my Birthday (19th), I am allowing myself to start a few projects without feeling shame or guilt, lol. Of the five projects I have picked, four are on my project list for the year.

I have the fabric for all of the projects and the thread for two. I placed an order for the remaining threads. I am hoping they arrive early this week.

The one knitting project I have picked is a Hitchhiker Shawl. I have knit this shawl several times. It is the perfect size when you need something light around your neck without too much bulk. The yarn I have picked is Yarn Ink in the Woodland colourway.

  1. Happy birthday week! Hope you have a great one. The stitching looks lovely and I agree, the Hitchhiker shawl is a wonderful project and perfect for just throwing on.

  2. Hope you have a fun, guilt free birthday week. Looks like wonderful projects. Haha, your Kringle and Halloween projects fit right in with the Fall and Christmas aisles I saw at Hobby Lobby yesterday. A real Christmas in July.

  3. My eyes crossed when you said 40 count! But it does end with a delicate and intricate finished item. An I the only person who has not done a hitchhiker shawl? Happy birthday week.

  4. Happy Birthday! Such cute cross stitch projects… I hope to stitch Kringles someday. Hitchhiker is a favorite of mine… to stitch and to wear. Great choices all around. ♥️

  5. Happy birthday to you! I hope you have a wonderful week celebrating. I really like the cross stitch is coming along and the new patterns picked are just perfect! So my type of cross stitch pattern!

Looking forward to seeing how the Hitchhiker knits up in the green colourway yarn.

  6. Happy birthday for yesterday. It was my husband’s birthday yesterday too. Hope you had a lovely day and sorry I’m so late posting. The new little kit sounds great. I’ve knitted hitchhiker a few times and now I am realising I’ve not seen them for ages, I’ll have to hunt them out as they are ideal for when the weather starts to change as it’s not too big. I’m sure your next one will look great in that yarn.

  7. Your Gourdness Gracious is so cute! I don’t think my eyes could manage 40-count cloth at this point, but I am more than happy to watch you stitch on it. 😀 It looks so nice.

  8. Happy birthday! I hope you tore up the town, or enjoyed some knitting at home. Your cross stitch looks fantastic. I have knit a hitchhiker and I love it but I’ve never actually worn it. It just looks pretty on my shelf. I need to figure out what to wear with it. I’m not sure I’m a shawl person. I have made 2 that I’ve never used so I’m not sure I’ll knit anymore for myself.
